Idaho Irrigation District and New Sweden Irrigation District (Districts) submitted a project study plan (PDF file reference: Districts final Project Study Plan – Rev 2) to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Project studies are referred to as “resource reports” by the FERC.
Districts were to combine project studies with analyses in their Preliminary License Proposal (PLP) to inform the FERC regarding project licensing and FERC preparation of documents subject to the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA). Districts have not yet issued the PLP with final analyses.
Districts were to complete the following studies:
FISHERY STUDIES
- Study 1 – Special Aquatic Habitats [trout habitat suitability models for adult and juvenile rainbow and brown trout subject to summer and winter conditions]
- Study 2 – Entrainment [trout entrainment through canal head gates]
- Study 3 – Icing Impacts [required input to trout habitat suitability models for Study 1, waterfowl study 6 and recreation study 7]
- Study 4 – Water Quality
WILDLIFE STUDIES
- Study 5 – Land Cover Mapping (Terrestrial Habitat Inventory)
- Study 6 – Waterfowl
OTHER STUDIES
- Study 7 – Recreation
- Study 8 – Cultural Resources
